It Is All About Storytelling

Narrative, Digital Media of Learning

The story begins here...

The narration gives life to the text, the audio, or an image. With narrative, everything becomes meaningful. It drives people's emotions and refers to a story or similar experiences shared in common with the community. Have you heard of a narrative tale from past generations? The spoken or written fairy tales may differ between cultural backgrounds, yet the narrative stories influence people positively and are passed down in multiple formats for centuries to centuries. That's how charming the narrative is. A narrative may be used to express one's feelings and imagination, and it can also be a method to motivate human beings through stories. As an artist who works in animation and filmmaking, I knew everything needed narration ( skills in storytelling, explanation for the storyboard and images, scripts before filming a movie, etc. ). The narration provides logic, meaning, and value that dive deep behind an art piece. That's how I love narration, and I hope you can enjoy my projects in my small world.

Goals

As a filmmaker and 2D animator, I have previous experience in screenwriting and storytelling, and I have utilized my skills in storytelling as an inspiration to present my creative ideas in my films. Now, as a UX designer, narrations help me better describe the users' pain points and needs. I can better practice an empathic mindset using the power of narration. I communicate with narratives and present the beauty of life with narrations.

School LIbrary

Academic Approaches

Narration is a powerful tool to express your idea, and I used this platform to update my academic files and share them with peers, professors, and experts for feedback.

Creative Arrangment

Creativity Exploration

I used this platform to experiment with my creative ideas, create a meaningful narrative, and develop stories based on these experiences.

Challenge Myself

Writing is always challenging for me. However, as an artist, I know narration is another representation of the art, and I shall always take the challenge to explore myself and test my bottom line. You will grow up with me throughout the process and see any improvement I can make!

Narrative Reflections

  • How does narrative currently manifest in my designer, professional, or researcher work?

    • As a 2D animator, it is essential to understand what storytelling is. What kind of story do I want to present to the audience? Who are the main characters of my story, and what is the purpose of telling the story? Am I trying to teach a lesson? What am I trying to convey to the audience?

  • Why do learning designers use learning theory/science?

    • It is crucial for learning designers to understand how people learn and then develop teaching approaches accordingly. As we understand how people process information and develop knowledge, we learn how to teach them most effectively.

  • How does learning theory relate to design, development, research, and publication? To in-classroom teaching, lesson planning?

    • Behaviorism learning theory ( stimulus- respond positive response)

    • Cognitive learning theory ( learners absorb and process information differently / how they stored memory in certain settings. How might we impress the audience? )

    • Constructivism learning theory (the learners build their knowledge based on personal experiences)

  • How can one use these as foundational elements and learning theories to be a more effective and thoughtful designer?

    • Consider how to utilize learning theories and connect them to the narration. For instance, people share different cultural backgrounds and educational backgrounds. Certain words may represent different meanings for people from different cultures based on famous fairy tale stories.

  • What is the process? How does it differ across fields, workplaces, and technologies?

    • From my perspective, as a learning designer, we shall pick a learning theory and begin from there. Which learning theory shall I pick and why.

  • Who is involved?

    • Audiences ( could be peers, experts, professors, etc.)

  • What are learning design deliverables? What types of documents do learning designers rely on?

    • Academic documents(? ) I need to be honest; I am a bit confused with the question and what the question is trying to ask.

  • What resources do learning designers use?

    • Reading resources from cognitive science course and learning science course.

  • How do we know if a learning design is effective?

    • It created a meaningful learning experience for the audience.
